James C. Knapp is an attorney dedicated to serving chosen families, LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, blended households, and anyone whose family doesn't fit the traditional mold. He founded his own law firm after watching traditonal estate planning continually fail the communities he lives in and serves. James leads from a simple belief: that the law should protect the people you love, regardless of how your family came to be.
He brings a thoughtful, unhurried approach to every client relationship. James takes the time to understand not just your assets, but your relationships, your values, and the living legacy you want to leave behind. The result is an estate plan that actually works — hopefully, keeping your chosen family out of probate court and your spirit without regrets.
When he's not helping clients protect their chosen families, James is spending time with his chosen family! He is a dedicated cat daddy and GSD ESD handler, an active member of the LGBTQ+ and legal communities, an author of poetry and flash fiction, and a frequent speaker on a multitude of issues affecting minority populations and non-traditional households.
